Alexandra Gubbins is a landscape designer based in Cumming, GA, whose career has evolved over the past decade from real estate into horticulture and landscape design. Her background in real estate gave her a deep understanding of how people connect with their homes and outdoor spaces, a perspective that naturally transitioned into creating landscapes that are both functional and beautiful.
With degrees in horticulture and landscape design, Alex founded Curated Landscape Design to cultivate gardens that are sustainable, purposeful, and uniquely tailored to each client’s lifestyle. “For me, the most rewarding part of what I do is getting to collaborate with wonderful and creative clients. Most of whom have found me through word of mouth. Good people refer good people, and that has been a blessing,” says Alex.
In addition to her design practice, she works in the Horticulture Department at Lanier Technical College, where she has the opportunity to give back by helping students develop hands-on skills and prepare for careers in the green industry.

Initial Consultation & Site Analysis – $185
Your first consultation is $185, credited toward future design fees. During this meeting, we’ll walk your property together, explore your goals, and start bringing your vision to life. We’ll assess sun, wind, soil, drainage, and existing features, while also considering zoning and your neighborhood context. This thorough approach uncovers opportunities, anticipates challenges, and sets the foundation for a beautiful, functional, and sustainable design.
Need a little professional guidance without a full design? Our consultation services are available at an hourly rate of $185, providing expert advice and recommendations tailored to your project.
For clients seeking a complete design, we provide a personalized plan based on your project’s scope. Most designs for a single area, such as a front yard up to 0.05 acres, take 3–4 hours, including the initial consultation. The process is collaborative, with opportunities for your feedback and revisions at every step, ensuring the final result truly reflects your vision.
1. Existing Conditions & Site Analysis
We begin by taking detailed measurements and studying every aspect of your site—sun, wind, soil, drainage, and existing features. We also consider zoning and neighborhood context to create a design that is functional, sustainable, and tailored to your lifestyle. A scaled drawing highlights opportunities and challenges, guiding the design process from start to finish.
2. Concept Plan
Next, we create a conceptual plan that lays out terraces, decks, pools, ponds, fountains, arbors, paths, and planting areas. Planting beds are shown in broad strokes at this stage, focusing on flow, layout, and overall spatial harmony rather than specific plant selections.
3. Final Plan
The final CAD plan brings your vision to life, with all hardscape features detailed and materials specified. Plants are labeled by name and quantity, accompanied by images and a customized maintenance schedule to support long-term care. This plan ensures your landscape is as practical as it is beautiful, making it easy to implement and enjoy for years to come.
